All rental car drivers must be at least 25 years of age. You must be at least 30 years of age if you would like to rent a full size MPV. Some locations may offer young driver rental options to those individuals who are 21 years of age or older. However, if you are under 25 years of age, but over 21 years of age, there is an additional fee for young drivers. Often times, the fee is often fairly expensive.
Do I need insurance to rent a car?
No, you do not need your own car insurance to rent a car. There is a waiver for damage that is already included in the rental price you are given. We offer you the ability to purchase additional insurance at the time you rent the car, if you do not have insurance. We want to make sure you have peace of mind when you rent your vehicle, so we offer comprehensive insurance options. Please ask for details when you rent your vehicle.
Do I need a special drivers license to rent a car?
To rent a car, you must have a valid drivers license. If you do not have an EU license, then you will need to obtain an international driving permit, if your license is not in English. You must present a picture ID, such as a passport or drivers license, when you come to pick up your rental vehicle. You also must provide proof of your length of stay in the UK. So you must show when you entered the country and when you plan to leave the country. We have the right to ask for additional ID and do additional ID check. We may use our partners to check for your information in databases to which they have access.
What type of payment do you accept to rent a car?
We accept all major debit cards and credit cards. All of the credit cards must have the name of the driver on them.
What happens if there is damage to the car while it's in my possession?
We do not charge you for normal wear and tear that occurs while you are renting the vehicle. We do not charge you for all types of scratches along the way. We do, however, use a tool that evaluates damage. If the tool detects dents, holes, or scratches, they are measured and if they fit inside the circles on the tool, it is not counted as damage. If the damage we detect is bigger than the circles on our tool, it is counted as damage. We would contact you to discuss the damage and the subsequent cost as a result of the damage.
Am I allowed to travel across the border into the neighboring countries?
You are allowed to drive your rental vehicle anywhere in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. You are not allowed to travel outside of those two areas. If you travel into the Republic of Ireland, there is an additional charge of 125 GBP per rental. Please make sure you alert us ahead of time that you plan to drive into the Republic of Ireland. Failure to alert us of this travel, you could be in breach the contract that you sign with us. We ask that you make us aware of where exactly you plan to travel while renting our vehicles.
What is the congestion charge in London?
The city of London has imposed a congestion charge in central London that must be paid on a daily basis. This charge is imposed from Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM any time the rental vehicle drives between the specified zone. There is no charge on Saturday or Sunday. We will add a charge to your rental agreement for the first day, for your convenience. Any days after that, you are responsible to pay the charge.
